Elective medicine doctors are feeling the pinch. Fewer patients are willing or able to spend money on procedures that could wait until sunnier days.

What should you do if your a plastic surgeon, orthodontist, or cosmetic dentists?

Don’t lower your prices. Don’t hide your head in the sand and wait for the winds to change and don’t let a new consult leave without making it easy for them to say yes — we’ll talk about ways to help them afford treatment in troubled times, but first this warning:

DO NOT DRIVE BLIND when making financing decisions today. Spend $4 a get a credit check before you extend terms to patients — but keep extending terms.

If you don’t know how to use credit information, call Paul Zuelke — no one knows how to make good decisions better than Paul.

I’m amazed at how many doctors are bragging about how well they have done without pulling credit reports on patients. Maybe that is true in the Mayberry economy of the past 5 years, but has anyone taken time to realize that things have changed.

The mortgage crisis has hit the banks. They are lending to fewer people. Too many middle class americans have yet to deal with the challenges of todays economy and families who have been on-time payers in the past are facing challenges they’ve never faced before — and now GAS prices are rising quickly and economists say families are paying $170+ more a month.

The risk of financing patients is higher than it has been in decades — and the need to offer better than average financing to patients is higher than it has been in decades. The answer is information — it cost $4 and it is worth every penny.

Today more than ever…..

Be Smart!
